Workshop day 3 was pretty calm also. Almost everyone is finished with paper mache-ing! I finished my piece (which surprised me a little since it's big) and hopefully we can all finish painting on the last day. Doing this workshop is a really good experiece since I get to work with a medium that I haven't worked with before, so it changes things a little. I also think I've grown closer to the people in the "Coofebs clan" and I look forward to more positive experiences such as these. (geeze, the stuff I'm writing shouldnreally be for the last blog for this wotkshop, but I've been feeling this eay the whole time we've been doing this.

In other news...I am writing this just after seeing Wicked. I loved the show, but isn't it a big fanfiction of the original story? (I checked the authors). But it was an interesting viewpoint, and it changed what I thought of the original book/movie. How the villian, the witch of the west, isn't all she seemes to be. The musical gives her a motive for her actions. I liked the costume and set designs, and the majority of the music (I admit, some tunes are more memorable than others). I thought it was kinda weird that it jumped right into the plot (but looking back, I understand that it soed into the musical since there was a lot of flashback to tell.) I also liked that they incorporated all of the character's backstories (like the tin man, cowardly lion and scarecrow).
This was the first time seeing the musical so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm glad I went to see it though.

I took a few notes/comments during the musical, but I can't see them in the dark (I'm writing on my iPod). But if I wrote anything else, I'll put them in at a later journal. For now, good night.

  1. It doesn't surprise me at all that you're so far along on your project. You're like a snow plow, you know, you just keep pushing through and pushing though - I see the way you work, it's a really good thing the way you work.

I'm glad you're bonding with your group. You're with a lovely bunch of people.

Wicked... so, deadly theatre? Holy theatre? Rough theatre? Immediate?

  2. Hm. I need to re-read that book to remember what the rough and immediate theater are. But I think it was somewhere between Immediate and Holy. Some times I felt as though it was almost too extravagant, but other times I really liked it.
