I forgot to mention that I went to an Andrew Wyeth museum with a friend and her family earlier in the summer. I got inspired by W. C. Wyeth's storybook art that was shown there, and when I got home, I tried doing a couple realistic-based art pieces.

Water study. Oekaki one layer only used black and the eraser-but varying transparencies

This one's more of a parody, however I tried using the muted color palette of Andrew Wyeth

Watching a POV show "Kings of Pastry". Some of the dishes look more like modern art sculptures than things to eat! (If I ever ordered one of those, I'd just keep it in my house to look at....)

Posting a small writing doodle about this morning:

This morning, I woke up to a dark grey room. The room had a quiet energy to it, the only real sounds being the gentle whirring of the fan and the "shaaa" of the rain pounding on the pavement. Through the blinds the sky was a light grey covered with a layer of dark clouds, quickly, silently, sliding across the window pane. I got up and shut off the fan, then returned to my covers listening to the sound of the rain steadily increase in tempo...

Later on, I woke up again and dressed, the room still bathed in a cool color scheme. As I slipped on the last of my clothing, my socks, I was met with a surprising feeling of /warm/ white cotton. It was a calm morning.

edit: quick doodle to go with it before I head in

Things I've been doing this summer:

I went to the Met. very early in the school break. My friend and I enjoyed taking photos of the Clouds exhibit on the rooftop (it is very photogenic, haha). We couldn't actually go up on the exhibit because we'd have to wait two hours and...we were hungry.

I also looked up how to draw feet, and the proper proportions of people. On a slow day, I spent a few hours reading tutorials and such, and now I know the proper size of a head!
  (some foot studies)

I also tried my hand with a bit of photomanipulation when my cousin asked if there was a way to have her hair down in a picture:

before:                                                                   after:

I mainly used the clone tool and healing brush (I had no idea what they did before doing this photo...'m still a little confused)

I've been thinking about things, and....

I'd like to have a really cartoony style, my own "regular" style, and a really realistic art style...
