-42.2-

I've been seeing the world in a different way, and I want to try to put into words how this feels.

Last year, I've had a few days that I've been calling "HD Days"; days where I felt like I could see everything in sharp detail. For example, if I looked at a tree, I felt like I could see every vein in the leaves, and every crack in the bark of the trunk. It felt amazing, having the ability to see everything clearly (I have bad eyesight, so I love looking at clear images like high-quality photos.)

At first I thought that it was just the cold air making things clearer, but this year, I'm not exactly sure when this started, I've been having "HD Days" more and more. Then, one day, I was looking up at the sky on the way home from school, and then it hit me that clouds are made of the same water we drink. I then began to wonder why do clouds form that way, and then I was mystified the whole way back.

A few days later, I was looking at the sky, and it looked more like a painting to me. Everything around me was "HD" and close, kind-of like a set on a play, but the sky seemed so far away. Thinking about it, it felt similar to when you're playing a video game and you notice your surroundings more clearly than the sky.

Then I realized that if I looked straight up, there was still sky. For some reason, I turned in a circle and became in awe of the fact that everywhere you look is sky. A few minutes later, I realized that you're, technically, standing in the sky because the air around you is made up of the same things as the clouds and space above you.

So every time I've been outside (mostly when I've walked home from school) I see my surroundings more clearly than I have before. Maybe this clarity has been there all this time and I just hadn't paid much attention, or maybe it's the fact that I've gotten a new prescription after two or three years of wearing the same pair of glasses.

Miscellaneous point I haven't addressed yet:
When we saw "The Impostors", I got excited when I saw Tony Shaloub's name on the cast list. I love the show Monk, and I haven't seen the actor in many other roles, besides as Mr. Monk.

However, when seeing the "Regina scene" it was a little... embarrassing to see him act that way, but it was also very funny to see him completely let go and get into the role. I suppose this is what being a good actor is...!

  1. I know exactly what you mean by an HD day. Let me know when you're in next week and I'll show you what it is an how you can enter it voluntarily. Imagine having control on that!
